PETER SCOTT-SINGER GUITARIST-ENTERTAINER 27th june 1956 PETER JAMES SCOTT was born in poole Dorset.He was one of six children and lived in Studland village near the town of Swanage in Dorset. Mum Iris and Dad Stan both worked in the village,it had one big hotel,one post office,one policeman,one garage,one shop,one church,And one pub, also one very big beach.All the children went to school in Swanage and pete did as well (sometimes). He left at the age of 15 and after working for a year on the council, as an apprentice painter (claim to fame,he painted the first ever zig zag lines in the uk), he joined the Royal navy and lasted 14 months, later he came back to work in the hotel ,(Knoll House)working in the kitchens ,while deciding what to do next.At that time also working in the hotel was Olaf,a man with a guitar``.Pete was very keen to learn how to play at least one song on it (upside down) as pete is a lefty.And after learning bobby mc gee,That was it ´´he had decided to be a singer /guitarist, and travel the world.Most people laughed at the idea,he was already trained in singing having been in the choir of the studland church years before.So he practiced hours and hours every day, driving those around him crazy,mostly when he got his first amplifier,but at the end of that summer,he got his first gig´´it was in the studland pub the Bankes Arms.(1974) New Years Eve.So along with Derek Loveless another guitar player, they got though the night with the songs they knew between them´ also a lot of beer´´pete and derek were both studland boys and got great suport from all their friends.The landlord Peter Salisbury never having had live music before,saw how well it went down,and agreed that if they could learn more songs,they could do one night a week in the horseshoe bar. So it had started,friday nights in the Bankes arms became the place to be.Pete soon started getting more gigs around swanage and into the Bournemouth and Weymouth area.He went for an audition with the vic allen agency and got his first contract to sing abroad. 3 months at the Hotel International Malta (1977) 4 hours a night,6 nights a week, a lot of songs were learnt at that time.After that he would spend summers in swanage playing 7 nights a week (fridays at the Bankes arms of course with derek) and in the wintertime move up country to sing in the pubs and clubs of London,Sheffield,,Swindon,Litchfield Bath etc etc,also over to Germany,Holland and around, then back to swanage.Then in 1987 moved to Antigua in the west indies.where he sang around the hotels and resorts,he also worked on two cruise ships,Three years later he moved to America.He bought a cheap Caddilac and did route 66,singing along the way,he also spent three months in new mexico, three months in Atlanta,and four months in florida, He then felt it was time for a while back in swanage. These last 19 years pete has been living on the Spanish island of Lanzarote singing 6 nights a week,and popping over to do the odd week in the uk, Greece, Holland and Germany.With a collection of over 1000 songs from memory pete can sing all types of stuff adding his own style to each song BUT YOU CAN´T BEAT A BIT OF PINK FLOYD, BOB DYLAN, AND LEONARD COHEN So thats the story so far´´ more to come hopefully
